Winter Park & The Fraser Valley is not just a year-round
mountain destination
resort in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Granted, it
has breathtaking scenery and being just 67 miles from Denver, it'seasily
accessible.
But what makes our destination resort different from all the
other fabulous Colorado resorts?
Most importantly, it's where outdoor enthusiasts will find a quality
experience, no matter what their ability level.
It's true. Many skiers and snowboarders already know Winter
Park for its winter playground, being it's home to Winter Park Resort,
Colorado's Favorite® and the National Sports Center for the Disabled, the
world's largest disabled program. But beyond the ski area, all the way to Rocky
Mountain National Park, there is almost every type of outdoor recreation
possible.
In the winter, being tucked against the Continental Divide
ensures dependable snow. Skiers are happy between two downhill resorts,
with learn-to-ski-and-ride parks for those learning and Mary Jane sized moguls
meant for the die hards, and four cross-country resorts with plentiful groomed
tracks. Families love slipping, sliding and gliding on the four tubing hills
and numerous skating rinks, which vouches for our family-friendly
activities. For the once-in-a-lifetime type activities, you can pick from a dog
sled ride behind a team of huskies or a hot air balloon rider over the valley.
There is more fun to be had than most can possibly squeeze into an
action-packed vacation.
Now don't underestimate Winter Park in the summertime
because of its name. There's a great deal of us locals that proclaim that they
"came here for the winter, but stayed for the summer." Why is that?
The hikers and bikers have over 600 miles of trails to
explore, dubbing the area Mountain Bike Capital
USA™, and for good reason. The list of other summer fun ranges from
rafting, fishing, golfing, horseback riding and an all time favorite with kids
of all ages... the longest alpine slide in Colorado. With over 200
exciting events, from marquee music festivals to run, bike and skate events,
there's plenty of good times to be had by all.
If we haven't given you enough reason to visit Winter Park
& The Fraser Valley yet, there's more... thanks to our community. Not only
will you find friendly folks here, there's a wide variety of affordable lodging,
locally owned and operated services available from A to Z, over 60 dining and
nightlife options to tantalize your taste buds and shopping from the Village of
Winter Park to the towns of Winter Park and Fraser. Every place you go in the
valley is casual. You can wear blue jeans to even
the most high-end restaurant, if you'd like.
